Dr David Beirman is well known in the Australasian tourism industry as the Director of the Israel Tourism Office (Australasia & SW Pacific ) and founder of the Eastern Mediterranean Tourism Association. Beirman’s travel industry activities have a global dimension.

As Director of Struan & Associates and author of ”Restoring Tourism Destinations in Crisis” he has gained worldwide recognition as an international tourism crisis and destination recovery specialist and has been invited as a major or keynote speaker at  prestigious tourism and academic conferences in twelve countries.

He has made television appearances and is frequently interviewed on radio, quoted in newspapers and professional publications. 

Since the publication of his book Restoring Tourism Destinations in Crisis in 2003,  now a key reference for over 1,000 university schools of tourism worldwide, David Beirman is in demand in his role as specialist in  the field of tourism risk management, crisis and recovery. Beirman’s work is published in English and French language journals and contributed chapters to three newly published [2005-2006] books in this subject.  

In addition to his work in re-building Israel’s tourism market since the September 2000 Intifada, Beirman developed a tourism recovery program for  Kenya in association with the Kenyan tourism industry in 2003. The Philippines Ministry of Tourism invited Beirman as keynote speaker at the 2003 National Conference where he spoke on the recovery of Philippines tourism.

Beirman’s post-Indian Ocean tsunami recovery program for tourism enterprises was featured on PATA’s website from  December 26, 2004 and utilised by thousands of tourism businesses in tsunami-affected countries.  

In Australia, Tourism NSW invited Beirman to develop and implement a tourism recovery programs during and after drought and bushfire crises. 

Struan & Associates was established by David Beirman in 1989 to train the Australian travel industry and has the benefit of 25 years hands-on experience in the tourism industry.
