Delta Air Lines is rolling back the clock to the good old days of air travel.
From March 1 Delta fliers in economy can chow down to complimentary breakfast, lunch, or dinner on transcontinental routes.
It will start serving meals on flights from New York’s JFK Airport to Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Then in April meal service will be expanded to Seattle, San Diego and Phoenix from JFK, and cross-country flights from Boston, Washington National Airport, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Raleigh-Durham.
Even ‘basic economy’ ticket holders will be fed for free.
The airline dropped free food from economy more than 15 years ago but brought it back on flights to and from Honolulu last summer.
"People appreciate not being nickel-and-dimed on these long flights. We believe this will be a competitive advantage," Lisa Bauer, Delta’s vice president of on-board services said in an interview.
Bauer said the meal service was a big hit with fliers during a trial period last year.
