Delta Air Lines has finalized the purchase of more shares in Grupo Aeromexico.
Delta’s cash tender offer was issued last month and completed Friday with the carrier now controlling 36.2% of Aeromexico’s stock.
The deal was worth about $620 million.
Delta also has a further option to buy 12.8% which would take its ownership up to the maximum threshold of 49%.
"This is yet another milestone that strengthens the Delta-Aeroméxico relationship as we move toward implementing our joint cooperation agreement in the second quarter," Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a release.
The two airlines received US antitrust immunity for the strategic joint-venture alliance after making concessions by divesting slots at Mexico City.
