Delta Air Lines chairman Richard Anderson has stepped down just five months after taking on the role.
Anderson served as Delta CEO from 2007 until May this year when he was elevated to executive board chairman.
As CEO Anderson oversaw Delta’s merger with Northwest Airlines and steered the once bankrupt airline to consistent profitability.
Former Home Depot CEO Frank S. Blake takes over as non-executive chairman.
"Under Richard’s leadership, Delta people established themselves as leaders in reliability, customer service and financial performance. His years of service to Delta established a legacy of unmatched dedication and we wish him well," said Blake, who joined Delta’s board in 2014.
Blake described Anderson as ‘one of the great leaders in global aviation.’
