Delta gets tentative OK for new Air France-KLM, Virgin Atlantic joint venture

Delta Air Lines is set to get the green light for an upgraded three-way transatlantic joint venture with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic.

US transportation secretary Elaine Chao gave tentative approval to the new JV which would replace two previous separate agreements with Air France-KLM and with Virgin.

The airlines say the joint business arrangement will offer ‘the most comprehensive route network, convenient flight schedules, competitive fares and reciprocal frequent flyer benefits.’

The airlines submitted the three-way proposal last year.

This comes after EU regulators allowed Delta, Air France-KLM and Virgin Group to assume control over Virgin Atlantic.

Delta owns 49% of Virgin Atlantic and has a 9% stake in Air France-KLM.
