Denmark and Iceland among four nations removed from travel corridor
Denmark, Slovakia, Iceland and the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao have been removed from the travel corridor list.
Travellers arriving in the UK from all four destinations after 4am on Saturday will be forced to quarantine for 14 days.
The FCDO has advised against all non-essential travel.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said no countries will be added to the safe travel list this week.
In the now familiar Thursday afternoon twitter announcement, the minister said data showed rising Covid cases in the four locations.
Earier this week Jet2CityBreaks announced it was suspending all departures to Iceland until next February.
SPAA President Joanne Dooey warned: "The recovery of the sector in not being helped by the continued removal or addition to the ‘safe list’ of countries which Scots can visit without having to quarantine on their return – such as today’s removal of Denmark, Iceland, Curacao and Slovakia."
Which? Travel Editor Rory Boland said: "Consumer protections are breaking down over the FCDO’s advice. Package holiday customers should be offered a refund when the FCDO changes its advice to warn against non-essential travel, however some of the largest online travel agents are now refusing refunds for customers.
"These companies are taking their lead from airlines who have faced no consequences for doing the same for months. Consumers have been left footing the bill, dragging confidence in the travel industry even lower."
