Disney doubling its group travel effort

Wednesday, 14 Aug, 2006 0

The Walt Disney Company put its toe in the water with group travel last year and now is ready to jump in head first.

Adventures by Disney is doubling its itineraries for 2007, the company announced. It expects 5,000 bookings, up from 1,000 this year.

The idea is to offer special family trips geared mainly to the outdoors with the usual excellence of Disney service. Trips to Hawaii and Yellowstone have proved popular.

The trips offer small group sizes and all inclusive prices with “hassle-free experiences…” or the quality of a theme park or cruise ship vacation.

Disney first tested the trips in 2005 on a limited basis.

Most of the dozen trips being offered are one-week long. Prices generally start about $2300.
