A report from TravelMole in North America says that Travel commentator Chris Elliott’s first impression that Disney was banning children from one of its theme park restaurants was to look up the word irony.
“The happiest place on earth has closed the door to children under the age of 10 at Victoria & Albert’s,” he wrote.
Mr Elliott says he is a big fan of Disney and his family has annual passes. “But ban kids from a restaurant? How could they?”
However, he added, virtually nothing at the restaurant at Walt Disney World in Orlando appeals to children. Meals can last three hours. Prices start at $125 a person.
“Saying ‘no’ to kiddies isn’t such a bad idea. After all, the adults need their own playground, too,” he said.
Disney says it is responding to its guests’ desires after surveys showed many diners wanted a more-adult restaurant atmosphere.
Victoria & Albert in the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is the theme park’s only restaurant with an AAA five-diamond rating.
