Disney's Shanghai park set for June opening

Walt Disney has finally confirmed the opening date of its first theme park in Mainland China.
After years of planning and an estimated cost of $5.5 billion, Disney Shanghai will open its doors on June 16.
A three-day grand opening celebration is planned, says general manager, Philippe Gas.
It’s about being authentically Disney and also distinctly Chinese. So of course, the celebration will also reflect that theme, that has been our theme since the beginning of our construction which is celebrating both, the blend of what Disney can offer with the culture of China," he said.
"We’re looking forward to showing it to the world and sharing it with the people of China for generations to come."
The park features six themed lands – Adventure Isle, Gardens of Imagination, Mickey Avenue, Tomorrowland, Treasure Cove and Fantasyland.
It will also include two ‘richly themed hotels.’
"When it opens in June, Shanghai Disney resort will be a one-of-a-kind, world-class destination that is authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese," added Disney chief executive officer Robert Iger.
