Investigators in Taiwan revealed the driver of a tourist bus which crashed killing all onboard was several times over the legal alcohol limit at the time.
The entire tour group of 24 Chinese tourists died in the fiery crash along with the driver and a Taiwanese tour guide more than a week ago.
Prosecutors said in a statement the remains of the driver was tested and he had an alcohol concentration of 1.075 milligrams per litre, which is more than four times above the legal limit to drive.
"He was drunk driving – a very severe case of drunk driving," said chief investigator Wang Yi-wen.
There were no traces of drugs in his system, the statement said.
The bus was travelling to Taipei’s Taoyuan airport after an eight day tour of Taiwan.
