Dubai’s cruise industry continues to boom.

For the first time, five cruise ships docked at the Dubai Cruise Terminal in the Port Rashid complex on a single day on April 12.

They were: Queen Mary 2, Costa Victoria, Costa Favolosa, Pacific Princess and Silver Whisper

The cruise ships had on board 15,000 passengers and 4000 crew members.

Hamad bin Mejren, DTCM executive director of Business Tourism and Dubai Cruise Terminal, speaking at a reception for the ships, said 71 cruise ships with 275,000 cruise tourists are expected to dock during the first half (January-June) of 2012.

In 2011, Dubai Cruise Terminal hosted 135 cruise ships with 375,000 passengers.

This year, Dubai is expected to see 425,000 cruise tourists to the emirate.
