Easyjet warns of growth slowdown
Easyjet has warned its growth rate will slow compared to the rapid expansion experienced last year.
Chief executive Andrew Harrison said capacity will increase but not at the same rate.
“While we aim to grow our capacity, measured in terms of available seats, by 15% this year, the first part of the year will show a lower growth rate due to the comparison with growth in excess of 15% this time last year,” he said.
He added the carrier expected to achieve “mid to high single digit” profit growth for the year. It posted an £85 million profit last month for the year ending September 30.
Harrison’s remarks came as Easyjet announced an 8.3 % growth in passenger numbers in November, taking the total to 2.29 million. Load factors fell from 80.2% to 81.2%.
