EMA apologises over baggage system fault
East Midlands Airport has apologised ‘unreservedly’ after some holidaymakers missed their flights and others flew without luggage because of a baggage system fault at the weekend.
The system problem caused long queues at check-in desks with passengers saying they had to queue for up to two hours.
The airport told passengers on Saturday to allow extra time to make their way through the airport while the problem was being sorted out.
An airport spokesman told the Derby Telegraph: "On Saturday morning, a fault affected some baggage systems at East Midlands Airport. As a result, some departing passengers were delayed checking in, and some flights unfortunately departed with baggage missing.
"Engineers are working to fully restore service as soon as possible, and the airport is working with airline ground handling teams to ensure that passengers are reunited with their luggage as quickly as is possible.
"We would like to apologise unreservedly to all passengers who have been inconvenienced by this fault."
