Emirates and SriLankan launch airline interline pact
Emirates and SriLankan Airlines have inked a two-way airline interline agreement to streamline connectivity for passengers of both airlines.
The partnership will allow easier onward travel on each other’s networks via Colombo and Dubai.
The airline interline enables through travel on a single ticket and one-time baggage transfers.
Tickets are now on sale for through travel effective immediately.
The interline partnership opens 15 regional destinations operated by SriLankan Airlines via Colombo, for Emirates’ passengers.
The interline network also includes two new Indian destinations, Madurai and Tiruchirapally, in addition to Gan Island in the Maldives.
SriLankan passengers also benefit from connections via Dubai across the Middle East, Africa, Russia and the US.
These include Bahrain, Dammam, Cairo, Muscat, Moscow, Tel Aviv, and multiple US cities.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer said: “We are pleased to activate an interline partnership and provide more choice and access to additional destinations.”
Emirates launched services to Sri Lanka in 1986 and since then has carried more than 11 million passengers to and from Colombo.
