Gulf carrier Etihad Airways is adding capacity on the Abu Dhabi to New York route with a second Airbus A380 from next June.
Etihad will replace a Boeing 777 with the landmark A380, which features the hotel style ‘Residences’ complete with Savoy Hotel trained butlers.
Chief executive Peter Baumgartner cites the ‘phenomenal’ demand on the route for the new deployment.
Etihad celebrates 10 years flying to JFK later this year.
Earlier this week it said Etihad and its partner airlines contribute more than $10 billion to the US economy, supporting in excess of 100,000 jobs.
"As Etihad Airways expands its US operations, and the importance of Abu Dhabi as a global hub grows, so will our impact on the US economy, in particular the employment landscape with the huge number of jobs supported across the country, both directly and indirectly," said group CEO James Hogan.
