Excel Airways chairman retires next month
Excel Airways Group non-executive chairman Eamonn Mullaney is to retire on October 31.
Mullaney has already cut his working week to three days a week in the run up to his retirement.
He was one of the founders of Excel Airways in November 2000 and also Caledonian Airways.
During his aviation career, he also worked with British European Airways, British Airways and Caledonian Airways, which he founded.
He will be replaced by Magnus Thorsteinsson, chairman of Excel parent’s, the Icelandic investment firm Avion.
In july, Excel Airways chief operating officer Steven Tomlinson and chief finance officer Paul Roberts resigned.
According to a spokeswoman for the airline, Tomlinson decided to take a career break for personal reasons and Roberts left to seek new challenges.
At that time, Excel’s Icelandic parent group Avion said it was taking steps to strengthen the Excel management and these changes represent the first stage in the process.
