It will offer a greater array of outdoor adventure activities and sustainable travel options, including the country’s first e-bike tour.

It is now diversifying its tourism offerings beyond the beaches to mountain ranges, jungles and rivers.

Sustainable adventure tourism

Many of Fiji’s adventure experiences are closely tied to conservation initiatives, including coral reef restoration projects, tree-planting schemes, and eco-friendly practices promoted through local workshops:

Naidiri Village Biodiversity Park where visitors can contribute to coral restoration projects and village tours led by the local youth.

Mangrove Jacks Kayaks Guided Tours  in Savusavu, where guided kayak tours support Fiji’s pristine mangrove ecosystems.

The Duavata Collective is a group of tour operators who believe that tourism should enhance culture, heritage, and the environment. It includes hiking operator Talanoa Treks, which explores through the central heart of Viti Levu with its latest three-day hike, Highland Escape

Preserving culture through adventure

Fiji is deeply committed to preserving and sharing its cultural heritage. Adventure packages often include traditional experiences like meke (Fijian dance), canoeing, and village storytelling.

Finding Islands Tours– Environmentally conscious tours that delve deep into Fiji’s hidden gems.

Off the Grid Tours Fiji – Go beyond the beaten track and explore Fiji’s most remote and untouched areas with this Fijian women-owned tour company, offering immersive, culturally rich experiences. New for 2024, is a four-hour village cooking lesson on the Coral Coast, to learn how to make authentic Fijian dishes and enjoy the feast with villagers.

Tourism development and local empowerment

The Tourism Fiji Industry Mentorship Programme and AdventureEDU initiatives ensure that local entrepreneurs are equipped with the skills and resources to offer sustainable experiences. Fiji will also play host to the AdventureNEXT this November, which will further showcase the destination’s wide variety of adventure experiences.

Jane West, Regional Director UK & Europe, Tourism Fiji said: “With our new offerings for 2024 and beyond, we’re excited to showcase Fiji’s stunning natural beauty, rich culture, and sustainable tourism initiatives”.
