Finnair adds more flights from UK
Finnair will increase capacity from the UK and Ireland to Helsinki next summer due to rising demand.
Edinburgh will be served by up to five weekly flights operated by a 138-seat Airbus A319.
The airline only launched the route in April this year.
Finnair said the service gave passengers from Edinburgh greater choice and easier access to destinations such as Hong Kong in 13 hours and 15 minutes, Beijing in 14 hours and five minutes, and Seoul in 14 hours and 30 minutes.
Finnair will also increase its capacity to Dublin from next March, operating up to nine weekly flights to Helsinki, an increase of three flights a week compared to the winter schedule.
The route will be operated by a mix of Airbus A319 and Embraer E190 aircraft during the 2017 summer season with a schedule that allows passengers to connect onto Finnair’s flights to Asia and the Far East.
Recently Finnair announced that its Airbus A350XWB aircraft will operate a fifth service between Heathrow and Helsinki from October this year and it has now confirmed the aircraft will continue to operate flight AY832 throughout next summer.
Andrew Fish, Finnair sales director UK, Ireland and Benelux, said: "We are pleased to announce these enhancements, due to passenger demand, to our summer 2017 schedule between the UK, Ireland and Helsinki allowing passengers even greater flexibility to take advantage of our award winning service and excellent connections to Asia."
