First Choice buys Exodus Travels
First Choice Holidays has acquired the adventure holiday company, Exodus Travels.
First Choice said the acquisition of Exodus is a further development in its strategy of continuing to invest in specialist niche businesses, and, in particular, strengthening the specialist activity-based businesses within the Group.
Commenting on the acquisition, Peter Long (left), Chief Executive of First Choice said: “We are delighted to welcome Exodus to the Group. First Choice has a successful track record of acquiring, integrating and building specialist businesses, as exemplified by our First Choice Marine Division which we have taken from being a UK based sailing operator to the world’s number one Marine business.
“Exodus fits perfectly with our criteria for acquiring specialist businesses. It has a clearly focused business model with premium margins, excellent growth potential, strong brand recognition and proven management expertise.”
Established in 1974, Exodus is now one of the world’s leading broad range adventure travel companies, taking clients on small group tours to over 80 different countries. The company’s sales are mainly derived from the UK with over 90% booking direct.
The Exodus management team, led by Managing Director, David Gillespie and Finance Director, Kate Gordon, will be joined on the company Board of Directors by previous senior executives Anita Schwerzel, Peter Burrell and Powell Ettinger.
