First ever autonomous flying vehicle air terminal coming to China
The world’s first dedicated ‘e-port’ terminal for autonomous aerial vehicles is coming to China.
AAV manufacturer EHang announced plans for a terminal to operate autonomous flying craft in Hezhou, China.
The 2,500 square metre terminal building will feature four landing pads which will initially used for aerial sightseeing trips.
It plans to launch in late 2020.
It will have a passenger waiting area and departure and arrival zone.
It will be home to about 20 EHang 216 two-seater autonomous vehicles.
"Hezhou has rich tourism resources and we are excited to enhance their appeal with our AAVs. We also welcome more local partners to join us and embrace a safe, autonomous, and green approach to travel and sightseeing," said Hu Huazhi, founder and CEO of EHang.
EHang has developed various solutions for passenger transport, logistics, smart city management, and aerial media.
It says it has already successfully completed hundreds of demonstration flights for its pilot-less AAV.
EHang’s air taxis have a top speed of 80mph and battery power for about 20 minutes in the air.
