Rescuers in the Red Sea had a bitter sweet day, with five more people found alive while four bodies were recovered.
A tourist boat capsized and sank off the Red Sea coast of Egypt earlier this week with 31 mostly foreign tourists and 13 crew aboard.
There are seven people still missing with Egyptian naval rescue teams ‘intensifying efforts’ to find survivors.
The latest to be rescued more than a day after the sinking are two Belgian tourists, an Egyptian, a Swiss and a Finland national.
Two British nationals are thought to be among those missing and it is not publicly known yet if there are among the four bodies recently recovered.
The boat sank near the tourist town of Marsa Alam on Monday.
The Sea Story boat is owned by Dive pro Liveaboard and is relatively new; it was was built in 2022.
“Survivors are being provided with necessary medical care,” said Red Sea regional Governor Amr Hanafi.
