Flight Centre extends Galileo agreement
Flight Centre has extended a global GDS arrangement with Galileo/Worldspan parent Travelport GDS until 2010.
The extension cements a long-term partnership between Galileo and Flight Centre which has been in place since the agency group first automated its shops in Australia in the 1980s. Flight Centre now has more than 1,500 shops and businesses in 10 countries.
Flight Centre managing director Graham Turner said: “This agreement is a reflection of the confidence and value we place on Galileo and the Travelport organisation who have been with us every step of the way as we have grown our business domestically and overseas.
“We fundamentally believe that the GDS represents the most effective and efficient way for our business to gain access to travel content both for our growing shop network and our online presence.”
Flight Centre has been a beta tester and early adopter of a range of Galileo products and solutions for both the leisure and corporate market, providing valuable feedback during research and development, according to Travelport.
CEO and president Gordon Wilson said: “In a competitive market place, this ongoing vote of confidence and support from one of the world’s leading travel agencies is a credit to the products, services and people relationships established between Flight Centre and our Galileo team.”
