Forthcoming IIPT Conference launches four agents for Peace

Daphne Lowe Kelly, President of the Australian Chapter of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism and host of the third IIPT Peace Conference Australia Conference to be held on July 15 at the Avillion Hotel, Sydney, today announced the speaker line up and programme for the Conference.

US based, Louis D’Amore, Global IIPT President will lead the prestigious line up and will be joined by: –

Lee Mladenovic, Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council;

The Hon Sandra Nori MP, NSW Minister for Tourism;

Abdullah Saleh Mbamba, Director UN Information Centre, Canberra; and

Mike Hatton, CEO, Australian Federation of Travel Agents – Key Note speaker

A number of themes will run through the conference as follows: –

Travel industry principals and agents (sellers) as agents for peace with:        

Jaqui Preketes, Manager, Touchdown Tours; and

Georgina Pickers, “A travel agent’s perspective”   

Industry organizations and government bodies as agents for peace with:

Dr David Beirman “Regional Destination Tourism Associations – Bridges for Peace”  

Tourists and travellers (buyers) as agents for peace:

Mia Nahm “Volunteer Tourism”; and

Richard Cunningham,(World Expeditions) “Community Project Travel”

Host communities as agents for peace:           

Dr Deborah Edwards, “Host Community Volunteers”  (Senior Research Fellow in Urban Tourism UTS Sydney)

There will also be interactive session between travel and tourism representatives and Peace through Tourism course students, which will be facilitated by course coordinator, Dr Lynda-ann Blanchard, with representatives assigned to one of the four ‘agents for peace’ will each speak for 15 minutes.
