Four US tourists died after a charter plane crashed into a shopping mall in Melbourne, Australia.
The pilot, named as Max Quartermain, also died and was the owner of the operating charter company Corporate and Leisure Travel.
The twin-engine Beechcraft Super King Air appeared to have suffered ‘catastrophic engine failure,’ police said.
It crashed shortly after taking off from Essendon Airport, killing all onboard.
Miraculously, no-one was killed or injured on the ground.
"Looking at the fireball, it is incredibly lucky that no one was at the back of those stores or in the car park of the stores, that no one was even hurt," Police Assistant Commissioner Stephen Leane said.
State Premier Daniel Andrews described it as the worst civilian air accident in the state in 30 years.
The aircraft was taking the tourists to King Island for a golfing break.
