French and Italian strikes to disrupt flights today

Ryanair has cancelled more than 100 flights ahead of the latest strike by French air traffic controllers today. A separate strike at Venice’s Marco Polo airport will cause further disruption, warned British Airways.
As a result of the latest proposed walk-out by French ATC workers, Ryanair said more than 18,000 of its customers would be inconvenienced.
A further 100,000 will suffer delays, said the airline, during the 13th strike by French ATC unions in the past 14 weeks.
British Airways warned customers of possible disruption to its services and, as with previous strikes, it is giving passengers the option to postpone their travel.
Any BA passenger due to fly to France, Madrid or Barcelona today can choose to postpone their flight up to and including Friday or fly to Milan, Verona or Bologna instead.
BA is also offering passengers due to fly to Marco Polo airport in Venice today to postpone their travel up to and including Friday to avoid ‘substantial disruption’ caused by a proposed strike by airport workers.
Alternatively, passengers can fly to Milan, Verona or Bologna instead.
"We will be using larger aircraft where possible and re-timing some other Venice services to help affected customers and are doing all we can to reduce the levels of disruption," added the airline.
