Galileo makes no-frills comparison
Galileo has developed a system to allow agents to compare GDS with no-frills fares.
Galileo director of airline sales for EMEA, Robin Ranken (pictured) told TravelMole: “It is a comparison tool to allow agents to find the most suitable fares for the customer”.
Custom Fares screen scrapes the websites of suppliers not incorporated in the Galileo GDS, such as no-frills carriers. When an agent carries out a search, all the fares are displayed on the same screen. If the agent wants to book the non-GDS fare, they are transferred to the relevant website.
Custom Fares is available to users of Galileo’s ViewPoint 3.0, for an extra charge. Galileo product manager, Peter Hopwood told TravelMole that although Custom Fares has already been installed in some agencies, no price has been agreed, but he did say it would be charged per terminal.
When asked to compare the product with Dolphin Dynamic’s FlightScanner, which allows agents to search no-frills fares, Mr Hopwood said: “If agents have the Dolphin Dynamics product, they have to search two separate systems. Custom Fares is integrated to show the fares on one screen”.
Galileo agents in North America already have access to non-GDS web fares through WebPoint, a search and booking tool developed by AgentWare.
