A top e-commerce executive is joining independent cruise agency Gill’s Cruise Centre.
Former Thomas Cook e-commerce director Russell Gould becomes senior advisor to Gill’s chairman Alistair Gill.
He has been handed a targeted brief to focus on the company’s operational and strategic development, particularly in the areas of e-commerce and the www.gillscruise.com website.
Gould has held senior positions across the travel retail and tour operating sectors, as well as other roles within financial services, insurance and banking.
Prior to Thomas Cook, he was new media director at MyTravel as well as working for Bradford & Bingley, Norwich Union and the ANZ Bank.
Gould has also been named by Tim Berners-Lee as one of the Top 100 individuals to be recognised for their contribution to the development of the internet over the last ten years and sits on the leadership council for the UK’s first Masters in Internet Retailing at Manchester Metropolitan University’s Business School.
Gill said: “We are delighted that Russell Gould will be joining the team at Gill’s Cruise Centre to advise us on our future strategy and e-commerce activity.
“We make no secret of our ambition, and to achieve our stiff targets for growth and market share, we rely on the high calibre of our team. No wonder then that Russell will be a huge asset to us and we look forward to drawing on his specialist knowledge.”
Gould said:“It is always so exciting to work with growing businesses and to help them realise their potential.
“This couldn’t be more the case with Gill’s Cruise Centre, and I am thrilled to be able to work closely with Alistair Gill and the rest of the team and to contribute to the company’s operational and strategic development, with particular emphasis on strategy and e-commerce.”
