Gold Coast – strategy to become premier Global Business Destination
The Gold Coast has announced a very clear strategy to achieve premier status as a meetings, conference and convention destination, with the key Aussie destination staking a historic claim last night with Gold Coast Tourism announcing the city will host three of the world’s most influential business leaders including Dr Alan Greenspan and Mr Ricardo Semler early next year.
The inaugural VeryGC Global Business Insights 2007 event has been billed as “Pioneering perspectives set to change the world”, and with the biggest names in North America, South America and Asia on the speaker list, the event is certainly one of Asia Pacific’s most progressive events.
Headlined by the celebrated Dr Alan Greenspan, legendary American economist and former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve of the US, VeryGC Global Business Insights 2007 is a first in leadership, thought and technology. Dr Greenspan, who presided over the most successful period of economic prosperity in US history, will participate and answer questions live via satellite.
On location to present, discuss and meet with the corporate Australian audience will be Ricardo Semler, CEO of Semco SA and champion of industrial democracy and corporate re-engineering. The third key speaker is yet to be announced but is tipped to be ranked high on the top 50 list of the world’s most influential and important business thinkers.
Gold Coast Tourism CEO Pavan Bhatia says VeryGC Global Business Insights 2007 is part of an assertive strategy to provide another level of business insights to Asia Pacific corporates and executives in the unique Gold Coast setting.
“The speakers and program which we have secured will deliver content that has never before been available to corporates in this region, we believe the event is as pioneering as the key speakers,” Mr Bhatia said.
“Our speakers are from diverse backgrounds, disparate regions and contrasting schools of thought, but each of them has achieved a significant impact on the world stage and influenced the progress of entire economies.”
“In a world of borderless and shifting markets, there can be no better asset for our CEOs, directors and executives than to gain an insight into the possibilities of success from a trio of truly global thinkers.”
VeryGC Global Business Insights 2007 will showcase the Gold Coast as a premier Business Tourism destination, with the event predicted to attract more than 1,500 corporate senior executives from around Australia and the Asia Pacific region and an additional 300 participants at satellite events hosted in Auckland and Singapore.
Tourism Minister Margaret Keech said the infrastructure, environment, attractions and culture of the Gold Coast have developed a unique proposition which is favoured by the Business Tourism market.
“The business of Business Tourism is a profitable one, generally regarded as one of the highest yielding inbound tourism segments. However, few Australian locations can compete with the quality and calibre of the Gold Coast offering.
