Golden Princess joining P&O Cruises Australia fleet
Carnival Corp announced Princess Cruises ship Golden Princess will leave the fleet and transfer to P&O Cruises Australia in 2020.
The Golden Princess also introduces Carnival’s Ocean Medallion wearable tech to the Australia market.
Ocean medallion is an industry first wireless device which communicates with sensors placed throughout the ship to offer a more personalised onboard experience.
The Ocean Compass digital concierge assists guests to find their way around the ship and locate family members as well as making bookings for restaurants, shore excursions and spa treatments.
"Carnival’s commitment to this market and the decision to put P&O Cruises’ guests at the heart of industry innovation through Ocean Medallion is a mark of respect for the Australian consumer," Carnival Australia executive chairman Ann Sherry said.
Sherry said Carnival Cruise Line plans to expand its Australia operations to two ships deployed full-time in 2020.
The P&O Cruises fleet will also be refreshed in the coming years.
"Seven of Carnival Corporation’s nine cruise brands sail in this market and we intend to further strengthen our leadership position," Sherry said.
