Grand Hotel Villa Medici gets a makeover

Thursday, 15 May, 2007 0

The Grand Hotel Villa Medici in Florence belonging to the Sina Hotels Group, has given itself a new spring makeover. Elegance and tradition that have made the  historical palace dating back to the 18th century famous, will be complemented by a contemporary style.

The Sina Fine Italian Hotels chain in the heart of Florence has redesigned the image of the large hall, the reception and concierge area as well as the lifts and boutique, in order to blend these areas with the modern look of the Jockey Bar that was renovated in 2005. The hall that was square is now octagonal, whilst the central dome has been better defined. To the right of the hall is the bar gallery already refurbished during 2005. A meeting corner, The Jockey Bar is a favorite that overlooks the gardens and swimming pool.

The Grand Hotel Villa Medici, a member of The Leading Hotels of The World, has already renovated 15 rooms. This enables guests to choose between classical or more modern rooms depending on taste. The seven penthouse suites on the top floor overlook a large terrace with a view of Florence. The Grand Hotel Villa Medici also has a suite that has a private plunge pool on its terrace. The Lorenzo de’ Medici restaurant, which serves typical Tuscan cuisine is complemented by the new “Conservatory” overlooking the gardens and swimming pool.

The Grand Hotel Villa Medici is offering a package on the occasion of the art exhibition called “Cézanne in Florence.” The exhibition is being held at the Palazzo Strozzi from March 2 to July 29, 2007, to honor  the French artist and mark 100 years from his death. The “Cézanne Package” includes: three nights stay in a deluxe double room;  a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival; American breakfast; dinner at the hotel restaurant “Lorenzo de Medici” (drinks not included); entrance ticket to “Cezanne in Florence” and the chance to see pieces by other contemporary artists such as Pissarro, Van Gogh and Sargent; free entrance to the Sina Fitness Club. The package costs € 900.00 in a double room for the period from May 1 to July 29, 2007.
