A grandmother has been hailed a heroine after she wrestled a giant crocodile that was attacking a friend. According to the Daily Mail. 60-year-old Alicia Sorohan reportedly jumped on to the saltwater crocodile’s back and gouged its eyes after it grabbed 34-year-old Andrew Kerr from his tent at Bathurst Bay, Queensland, Australia. After releasing the man, the 14-foot beast turned of Mrs Sorohan, grabbing her by the arm and dragging her towards the sea, where, experts say, it would have undoubtedly killed her. However, another camper, after hearing screams, shot the crocodile in the head shortly before it reached the water. One Australian wildlife officer is quoted as saying: “What this lady did deserves a hundred medals. You wouldn’t find many able-bodied men daring to take on a crocodile of that size – or any size – in the dark, let alone a 60-year-old woman.” Mrs Sorohan and Mr Kerr were flown to hospital for treatment after setting off a beacon to attract emergency services. Wildlife officer Clive Cook reportedly said: “To find a crocodile entering a tent and grabbing someone is very unusual – I don’t recall it happening before. It may have been that the campers had been cooking steak for dinner or had been gutting fish and the smell had attracted the crocodile. “Thankfully, that woman was around to save the man. What she did was just breathtaking.” Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad Ltd
