New Trou aux Biches development and rebuild conforms to rigorous green standards
A super luxury hotel in the north-west of Mauritius, Trou aux Biches reopens in November following a very exciting re-build. Capitalising on its prime location, the original Trou aux Biches was completely demolished and has been rebuilt with a focus on tropical elegance, privacy and luxury.

To blend harmoniously with the exceptional ocean-side setting, the hotel has created its buildings and facilities to conform to the most demanding environmental standards. Everything has been designed so that guests can enjoy their stay in perfect comfort whilst minimising impact on the environment. From solar panels to supply hot water, a waste water treatment plant and high efficiency cold-water production units, every effort has been taken to ensure the new Trou aux Biches operates with the minimum impact on its beautiful environment.

Behind the luxurious new-look, Trou aux Biches has a very ‘green’ heart. In fact the whole hotel has been redesigned to embrace and protect the beautiful environment in which is sits.

New measures now include 1,000 m” of solar-heating panels to supply hot water; a composting unit able to handle up to 5 tons of green waste every day; drinking water and cold-water pumps have been fitted with flow regulators that will produce a 40% drop in electricity use; a waste-water treatment plant recycles 450m“ every day, of which 300m“ is used for irrigation; and high tech swimming pools fitted with the latest computerised control systems.

Additionally, to enhance sustainability, a salt-water desalinisation plant will provide a daily supply of 450m“ of drinking water. This will all ensure Trou aux Biches remains one of the leading Mauritian hotels for many years to come.

One of the first hotels in the Beachcomber group, Trou aux Biches has become a legend for generations of families as well as a romantic hideaway for couples and honeymooners.

Set in lush tropical gardens on the island’s north-west coast, Trou aux Biches has earned a reputation for island hospitality, warmth and high standards of personal service. The contemporary five-star, village-style resort will provide a range of facilities unique in Mauritius and world-class environmental credentials will ensure its pristine natural environment remains just so.
