Australia: Skull could belong to Briton who disappeared two years ago
A human skull discovered on a popular tourists island could be the remains of a British tourist who disappeared some two years ago.
As reported by News From Abroad, David Eason vanished on Australia’s Fraser Island in March 2001. The 46-year-old had been visiting the island with a tour group, but disappeared after telling his companions he was going to walk along a beach to Lake Wabby, near where the skull was found.
There has been widespread speculation over the incident, with many claiming Mr Eason was attacked by the wild dingo dogs that live on Fraser Island. Now police scientists are carrying out an examination of the area where the skull was found and are also testing the skull itself.
A police spokesman said: “We are investigating the fact that a skull has been located. We are not at this stage looking for any particular person.”
