'Hardship payment' of USD20,000 offered after Flydubai crash

Sunday, 20 March 20163 min read
Flydubai said it will give ‘hardship payments’ of $20,000 per passenger to the relatives of those killed in the deadly airline crash in southern Russia.
"Our priority is to identify and contact the families of those lost in the tragic accident and provide immediate support to those affected," the airline said in a statement.
Investigators probing the circumstances behind the crash in Russia are ruling nothing out.
The jet crashed as it attempted to land at Rostov-on-Don, killing all 62 people on board.
The plane was reportedly making its second attempt to land in bad weather.
It missed the runway and wreckage was strewn across a wide area after it ‘skimmed the ground and broke up into several pieces,’ investigators said.
Russian state media said there were high winds and poor visibility at the time.
"Different versions for what happened are being worked through, among them a mistake made by the crew of the plane, a technical problem onboard, difficult weather conditions and other factors," Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said in a statement.
Investigators said the aircraft’s two black boxes had been recovered.
