Holland America pulls Tunisia port calls

Sunday, 24 Mar, 2015 0

Holland America is the latest cruise line to announce it is pulling out of Tunisia port calls following last week’s terrorist attack.

Two ships on Mediterranean sailings which were scheduled to call in Tunisia over the next two months will now be re-routed to Sardinia.

Holland America says port calls to La Goulette, Tunisia, beyond that time will be re-evaluated over the coming weeks and details will be announced in due course.

The 2,104-passenger Eurodam was due in Tunisia on April 21 and will now go to Cagliari, Sardinia.

HAL’s Zuiderdam ship will now replace La Goulette with stops in Olbia, Sardinia on May 9 and May 25.

The March 18 attack at a Tunis museum killed 23 people including 17 cruise passengers from the MSC Splendida and Costa Fascinosa ships.

Both MSC Cruises and Costa Cruises have cancelled all remaining port calls in Tunisia until the end of 2015.

Fellow cruise lines Star Clippers and Hapag-Lloyd are also avoiding the country and will instead call in Sicily during April.
