Hotel chain launches major recruitment drive
Hilton Worldwide this week launched a major recruitment drive to fill 700 vacancies, from management to entry level positions. The hotel chain, which is opening 18 new hotels in the UK, is also expanding its apprenticeship scheme resulting in 100 new jobs.
It is holding a series of events all week at hotels across the country to encourage more people to consider a career in hospitality.
Ben Bengougam, vice president HR, Europe for Hilton Worldwide said: "Our hotels cover the length and breadth of the U.K. and Ireland and the opportunities we offer stretch across the field of hospitality – from chefs to engineers and from architects to room attendants.
"We’re looking for people with a good work ethic and a passion for delivering excellent customer service. In return, we provide a fun, exciting, varied and supportive environment to prosper and grow, offering world-class training and development programmes to enable our people to fulfill their potential."
Chris Grayling, minister for Employment added: "Youth unemployment is my biggest priority in government and I have asked business to join us in giving real opportunities to young people. Hilton Worldwide is a great example of what businesses can do by offering jobs, apprenticeships and key skills for people trying to find work."
Careers@HiltonLive events include career speed dating with industry experts, preparing a top class CV and how to do better at interviews.
The company is also working with the National Apprenticeship Service to expand its current apprenticeship scheme later this year with a new programme that will specialise in the art of hospitality and hotel operations. It will create 100 new opportunities, in addition to the Chef Apprenticeship Academy, which is currently recruiting for 60 chef apprentices and has already trained 60 apprentices.
During what is the company’s greatest growth period in its 93-year history, Hilton Worldwide is also creating a further 1500 roles over the next three years through the development of 18 new hotels across the U.K. Another 1,900 careers will be safeguarded through 10 hotel conversions to the Hilton Worldwide portfolio.
