Hotelplan UK hit by cyber attack
Hotelplan UK announced it has been compromised by a cyber attack.
Joe Ponte, CEO, Hotelplan UK issued a statement saying the hack took place last weekend.
This is when it began experiencing IT disruption across some of its key systems.
“Our initial investigations have confirmed that this disruption has been caused by a cyber security incident,” Ponte said.
“As a result, we have taken steps to isolate and shut down key systems.”
It is taking steps to strengthen security of systems operated by all Hotelplan UK brands including Explore Worldwide, Inghams, Inntravel, Esprit Ski and Santa’s Lapland.
Ponte said it hasn’t impacted holidays and trips that are already booked.
Customers are departing as normal and travel agents, suppliers, partners and customers are able to communicate via their normal channels.
He said customers and suppliers may experience some delays and IT disruptions over the coming days.
“We are implementing workarounds to minimise the disruption to our customers, partners and suppliers.”
“We are working hard to resume the level of service that you expect from us and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.”
“Resolving this incident remains our top priority.”
The systems for each of the different brands may become fully operational at different points in time.
The company will update customers and suppliers with further details when the extent of the issue becomes clearer.
