Hottest day of the year forecast this week
The hottest day of the year so far has been forecast for the middle of this week, with temperatures expected to hit 34C in London and the South East.
Porthmadog in Wales is currently the record holder for the year, at 33C on June 28.
The heatwave is expected to continue for at least another week.
Met Office forecaster Alex Burkill told Sky News: "It does look likely it will be at least 33C at some point this week, most likely on Wednesday or Thursday, in the South East and East, London, Essex, Kent, East Anglia and into Lincolnshire."
