Hundreds of AirAsia passengers arrived in Perth after a holiday in Bali to find theior luggage was still stuck on the Indonesian holiday island.
The airline said about 200 passengers were affected.
It led to a long line of frustrated passengers seeking answers on arrival in Western Australia.
The airline blamed a combination of bad weather and full flights over the peak holiday period.
The weather situation meant AirAsia was forced to load more fuel for the three affected flights.
"In the interest of safety, our captain made the decision to load more fuel shortly before take-off," an airline spokesman said.
"As a result of the extra weight, a small number of guests’ bags remained in Bali."
"The remaining bags arrived in Perth on the next flight and are in the process of being delivered to those affected. AirAsia apologises for any inconvenience caused by these baggage delays."
Some passengers said even prams were left behind in Bali.
With potential bad weather patterns forecast en route, airlines often increase the fuel load to ensure they can divert to another airport if required or enter a holding pattern to see out a storm.
