Hundreds of climbers stranded on Mount Everest after severe weather have been brought down to safety, officials say.
They were trapped due to heavy snow blocking the route at an altitude of about 16,000 feet
One experienced trekker said he had ‘never experienced weather like this.’
Several in his group showed signs of hyperthermia.
One of the group Chen Geshuang, said: “This blizzard was still extremely difficult to deal with. I was so lucky to get out.”
The rescue effort included hundreds of volunteers from Tibet.
It was confirmed that one person, South Korean national, had died while dozens were still thought to be on the mountain.
However, they have been reached by a rescue team after making it to a rendezvous point, Chinese media reported.
