Over 100 Australians have been evacuated from riot torn New Caledonia as French President Emmanuel Macron flies to the French overseas territory.
The Australian military laid on two flights to evacuate 115 Australians with another 100 expected to be flown out today.
There has been 10 days of violence which has claimed six lives and several areas of Noumea have been torched, destroying businesses.
The unrest was sparked by an unpopular voting bill which would likely benefit pro-France lawmakers.
The New Zealand air force also flew 48 Kiwis into Auckland.
France has started evacuating up to 500 people on military flights.
There are about 300 Australians still in New Caledonia.
“We continue to work with partners on further flights, prioritising passengers based on need,” Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said.
The airport was closed early into the unrest and remains off limits.
A state of emergency and curfew is still in effect.
