Hyatt, others expansion-minded
Hotel group Hyatt is adding 120 new US hotels next year but it’s far from alone in expansion plans.
Hotel Indigo, for example, is adding another four hotels in the Washington, DC area. InterContinental launched the luxury boutique brand in 2004.
Hyatt’s new hotels will fall under the Hyatt Place brand. Company officials say the new hotels will be in key business and leisure markets such as Orlando, Tampa, Chicago, Dallas and Nashville.
Hyatt senior vice president Jim Abrahamson said the new hotels are the result of extensive research.
“Based on those findings, we saw an opportunity to create a hotel experience that understands the way people are living their lives while at home or on the road,” he said.
The resulting new hotels will have spacious rooms with sofas and free Wi-Fi, as well as 42-inch flat televisions.
Other Hyatt features will include The Gallery, which the hotel chain says is a warm and open area with personal greetings for guests, as well as a self-registration kiosk.
Hyatt Place will offer free continental breakfasts and free access to a public computer and printer.
The new Hotel Indigo properties will range from 100 to 200rooms with complimentary wireless access. Some properties will feature spas.
The chain currently has six properties in the US.
