Icelolly confirms departure of CEO

Holiday price comparison website icelolly.com has announced the sudden departure of chief executive Dave Clayton.

In a short statement, the company said: "Holiday price comparison site Icelolly.com can confirm that Chief Executive Dave Clayton has left the business.

"The board would like to thank Dave for his contribution to the development of the business during his tenure."

Clayton joined the company only 18 months ago and led a management buyout in September 2013 for £17 million, backed by Palatine Private Equity.

He had previously spent 12 years at The Global Travel Group, the last four as managing director. Prior to joining Global, he was with MyTravel, now part of Thomas Cook.

Clayton will be replaced by Andrew Latham who has joined as interim CEO. The company said: "He has extensive experience leading large brands, particularly in the hotels and leisure sector, having held key roles at Compass Group, Surrey Free Inns and Greenall’s."
