Iconic Maldives resort Baros celebrates its 50th year
Formally a coconut plantation, Baros Maldives is marking its half-century.
It was the third Maldives resort to open.
Serving guests since 1973, Baros has been a pioneer and mainstay of the Maldives Tourism Industry, putting the destination on the map.
The luxury private island resort has spent decades honing its services.
In December 2023, it officially celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The iconic Maldives resort also boasts a very loyal clientele with one guest visiting 54 times, and another couple about to embark on their 32nd trip.
The resort’s longest serving employee, Mohamed Zihunee joined Baros in 1980 at line level and progressed to be the resort manager.
When he retired in 2022, he had dedicated 41 years of service to the Maldives resort.
Currently, Baros has a workforce of over 50% of local staff, including many of the management team.
Out of its team, 54 staff members have been with the resort between 10 to 20 years, whilst 28 members of the team have been there between 20 to 35 years.
The island resort offers 45 beachside and 30 overwater luxury private villas, many with private pools and each complete with butler service.
It is surrounded by tropical greenery and a house reef, just a short swim from the villa doorstep.
Baros, is also renowned for its exquisite dining experiences, has three restaurants including its signature fine-dining restaurant, The Lighthouse.
Additionally, the Maldives resort has direct access to 30 of the best diving spots in the atoll.
It offers Diving by Design and a Serenity Spa with pampering holistic treatments.
