A special seminar for top travel industry management designed to provide in depth business insight will run as part of this year’s Travel Convention in Barcelona.

ABTA and PricewaterhouseCoopers have joined forces to create the T20 Forum.

ABTA said the invitation-only event will bring together three of PwC’s senior partners, described as renowned experts at the forefront of business recovery and consumer profiling.

They are Tony Lomas, currently lead administrator of Lehman Brothers and chairman of PwC’s UK business recovery services practice. He has travel experience as lead financial adviser to the bank lender group in the recovery and corporate restructuring of MyTravel.

He will provide an insight into the failure that triggered the world’s largest banking collapse and the lessons that can be learned.

Mark Hudson, PwC’s retail and consumer leader, will explore in depth the issues from his main stage session, including: consumer attitudes, value for money, implications on pricing and branding strategy, future proofing your business, and issues driving consumer behaviour such as the flight to value, online behaviour and sustainability.

Richard Thompson,PwC’s retail consumer finance expert, will present the findings of ‘The Precious Plastic Survey’ ahead of its launch in November. The survey will cover consumers’ current attitude to the use of credit cards, consumer credit and consumer financing – providing information about predicted consumer spending behaviour in 2010 and beyond.

The seminar details emerged as ABTA outlined detailed plans for this year’s convention.

These include a cruise forum seminar on board Royal Caribbean International’s Navigator of the Seas and visits to MSC Fantasia and Costa Concordia.

A luxury travel forum has also been organised with seminar details to be confirmed.

Four one-hour master classes will cover travel marketing, staff motivation, planning for growth and innovations in travel marketing.

Other speakers previously confirmed include Carnival Corporation chairman and CEO Micky Arison, TUI Travel CEO Peter Long, former chancellor Norman Lamont and Forum for the Future head of futures James Goodman.

The convention business sessions run on October 7 and 8 with ship visits the following day.

The event kicks off on October 6 with football matches, a reception and party.

*TravelMole will once again be providing breaking online news direct from the Travel Convention both through email alerts, TravelMole.TV, the www.TravelMole.com website and with Twitter postings.
