Israel opens up to all vaccinated travellers
Israel will begin accepting vaccinated independent tourists from next week.
Israel’s Ministry of Health accepted the recommendations of Tourism Minister Yoel Razvozov and approved tourist entry into Israel from 1 November 2021 subject to proof of vaccination.
It follows a nationwide drive to administer booster shots.
Israel was the first country to launch a mass booster campaign, with millions receiving a third dose since the summer.
Cases rose to more than 10,000 a day but have since fallen to just a few hundred.
The government said travellers from any country can enter with a vaccine certificate that is less than six months old.
Travellers will also still need to take a Covid test before departure and another one on arrival.
"This is only the start of the journey. We are full of hope that the necessary measures that have been introduced will help, and as things improve it will be possible to ease the conditions of entry into Israel," the Ministry of Tourism said.
Sharon Bershadsky, Director of the UK & Ireland Tourist Office said "The Ministry of Tourism along with our colleagues in the industry have been working tirelessly over this difficult period and we are thrilled to be able to welcome visitors back to Israel."
