Israel website adds tourist advice over Lebanon situation
Israel tourism officials have posted a special section on the country’s website – www.goisrael.com – to meet customers concerns over the Lebanon situation.
The section, called ‘What Today’s Headlines Mean For Tourists to Israel’, will be updated regularly.
It advises tourists, agents and tour operators about the regions worst affected. These are mainly in the north which has suffered rocket attacks.
It says El Al, Israir, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Air Canada and European airlines are flying to Israel as normal.
It also says major tour operators are operating as normal and church and synagogue groups continuing with their Israel tours.
“If you’ve already made your travel plans – there’s no need to cancel. If you decide at the last minute to postpone your trip, tour organisers and airlines have agreed to our requests that they waive penalties,” it says.
The UK Foreign Office has advised against all travel to Lebanon and has stepped up its security advice for travellers to Israel. See www.fco.gov.uk for more details.
