ITT to sponsor British Travel Awards
The ITT has become an official sponsor of the British Travel Awards and will present a special award for responsible tourism.
The independent awards ceremony is being held in November to coincide with World Travel Market.
ITT chairman Steven Freudmann said: “We are delighted to be asked to be an official partner and we are please a new and independent awards are being launched in the industry.”
He said ITT members would be encouraged to enter the awards, which will recognise excellence across a range of categories.
The ITT joins a list of high profile supporters of the 2006 awards, including Travelmole, First Choice, Thomas Cook, Triton, Sandals, Reed Travel Exhibitions, Cadogan Holidays, Enjoy England, Embassy Leisure Breaks, Match Day Media TV and Just a Drop.
Winners will be voted by the travelling public as well as professionals in the travel industry.
Some categories can only be voted for by agents as only their depth of industry understanding gives them the necessary insight and knowledge.
“We will be part of the selection committee, setting the criteria and vetting the nominations and voting procedures,” said Freudmann.
It is the first time the ITT has sponsored an awards ceremony.
Freudmann said it had agreed because of the non-commercial nature of the event.
“It also ties in nicely with our presence at WTM,” he added.
“We will be running our skills zone at the show, giving skills and training providers the chance to show their wares, and we will also have our special lounge for members.”
The award ceremony is being held on November 9 at the unique Battersea Marquee in Battersea.
TravelMole will be providing regular updates on the awards in its daily newswire.
