The Jamaica Tourist Board this week forged an alliance with Airbnb to boost inbound tourism.
Few details have been disclosed so far but the partnership will seek to showcase Jamaica’s history, culture, cuisine and sporting events to Airbnb’s global customer base and beyond.
"With this partnership with Airbnb, we will be able to offer a renewed focus on community-based tourism, which highlights our biggest asset: our people. We foresee a great partnership with Airbnb and look forward to exceeding their clients’ expectations," said Paul Pennicook, Jamaica director of tourism.
Airbnb says there are about 4,000 Airbnb listings in Jamaica and hosts earn an average $2,500 a year.
"We are excited to announce this partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board. We look forward to continuing our work with everyone involved in promoting Jamaica as a top travel destination," said Shawn Sullivan, Airbnb’s public policy lead for Central America and the Caribbean.
Airbnb recently signed a similar tourism promotion partnership with Aruba.
