Japan Airlines has finalised its first ever Boeing 737 Max order.
It will buy 21 Max jets to refresh its narrow body fleet.
The deal is worth about $2.5 billion based on list prices.
According to JAL President Yuji Akasaka, the new short haul jets will be delivered starting in 2025.
“I believe this is a very high potential aircraft,” he said.
JAL’s narrow body fleet is predominantly made up of older Boeing 737-800s.
The new planes will fly its short haul regional and domestic network.
“We look forward to moving closer to our 2050 carbon-neutral goals,” Akasaka said
